Device Management

MicroTunnel devices can be adopted, removed, and have their user associations managed from the dashboard.

Tokens

  • Devices store one token (or two if you have a network name specified) for each activated server.
Security tip

If a device is compromised or stolen, detach the device from its users and rotate tokens for any user formerly active on it, or use the "Rotate All" option on the Organization Home page.

Runners

  • We recommend deploying the Workstation runner using your RMM tool, especially for larger deployments.
  • Ready-to-go PowerShell scripts are available here.

Device–User Relationships

  • MicroTunnel tracks devices, MicroTunnel users, local device users, and server groups to deliver seamless, friction‑free access to SMB shares, file storage, and printers.
  • Each local user account on a device can be linked to a MicroTunnel user, and a single MicroTunnel user can be associated with local accounts on multiple workstations.
  • Each linked local user on a Windows PC stores and maintains the access tokens required for connecting to organization servers.
  • Read more about users and devices here and here.
